Green Lake (called also Mtsvane Lake), perched at 2,058 meters (6,752 feet) above sea level in Zemo Adjara's Khulo municipality, is one of the most striking alpine lakes of Ajara, Georgia. Situated just 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) north of Goderdzi Pass, this lake is distinguished not only by its altitude but also by its mesmerizing color shifts — from a vivid green during the day to hues reflecting the evening sky. These changes are due to the mineralized waters fed by cold mountain springs, which also make the lake’s water frigid and rarely swimmable, reaching depths of 19.4 meters (63.6 feet).
Accessible by foot or high-performance vehicles, the journey to Green Lake passes through a dense mixed forest that enhances the lake's green appearance.
